Companies are taking into consideration consumers desires for healthier meals by offering wholesome, fresh-prepared meals and snack options while still maintaining the convenience consumers are looking for. With menu items that offer artisanal, farm fresh and organic, your local convenience store is morphing into a food destination right before your eyes. These operations are first-hand examples of how this industry is now competing with the quick and limited-service restaurants for the almighty food dollar.
But it’s not only convenience that plays a role in a store’s food offerings, companies are considering the food landscape, strategically positioning their business and cultivating customer loyalty. C-Stores are no longer home of the roller hot dog or the heated pretzel, but a food destination consumers are sinking their teeth into.
