Coborn’s and Hillphoenix Hosting AIM Act Solutions Presentation at NGA Show 2024

By Published On: March 5, 2024

LAS VEGAS, NV, March 5, 2024 Hillphoenix and rapidly-growing regional grocery chain Coborn’s will co-host a presentation during the National Grocers Association (NGA) Show on how grocers can navigate the upcoming changes from the American Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Act.

The presentation, set for 8:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on March 11, centers on how Coborn’s countered the AIM Act by proactively switching to CO2 and will feature Chris Braun, Director of Construction and Facilities at Coborn’s and Derek Gosselin, Director, Technical Product Sales at Hillphoenix

“With the AIM Act, we wanted to find a scalable solution that wasn’t just a temporary measure,” Braun said. “We wanted something that was future-focused and could set up Coborn’s for long-term success, too.”

The AIM Act is designed to phase down the production and consumption of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) in the United States by 85% over the next 15 years. HFCs are currently used in several applications, such as food retail refrigeration.

In 2021, Coborn’s installed new sustainable refrigeration systems in two of its locations. The change is expected to lower the electricity consumption and CO2 emissions at the two stores by 3 million kWh and 934 tonnes, respectively. Together, the new refrigeration systems will save roughly 1,160 tonnes of CO2 emissions, Braun said.

“Hillphoenix has been the dependable leader in natural refrigerants like CO2 since 1998,” Gosselin said. “It’s always rewarding to help a grocer like Coborn’s navigate changing regulations in a way that is also good for their business. Both, Chris and I are excited about the opportunity to share our insight with the other independent grocers during our presentation at the upcoming NGA Show.”

Outside of the presentation, Hillphoenix will be available at Booth #1023 with its refrigeration experts to discuss the best practices regarding upcoming sustainability regulations. To learn more about what Hillphoenix will be featuring at the show, visit hillphoenix.com/nga-2024.

The NGA Show is held March 10-12 at the Caesars Forum Convention Center in Las Vegas.
