Hillphoenix congratulates all the 2015 GreenChill Environmental Achievement Award recipients who, along with Hillphoenix, were recognized by EPA Greenchill at the GreenChill Partnership’s annual Achievement Awards on September 29.
Hillphoenix, a pioneer in designing environmentally sustainable refrigeration systems, received a 2014-2015 Achievement Award – Store Certification Excellence from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s GreenChill Partnership program. It’s the company’s fifth GreenChill award since the program launched in 2007. For the third year in a row, Hillphoenix was the only non-grocery recipient of a GreenChill Store Certification Excellence award.
“We are honored by this recognition from EPA GreenChill. Since GreenChill was established in 2007, Hillphoenix has taken a leadership role in developing and promoting sustainable refrigeration technologies,” said Scott Martin, Director of Sustainable Technologies for Hillphoenix. “We are committed not only to the research and development of sustainable technologies — but also to making our customers aware of the competitive and environmental advantages of investing in sustainable systems. Our environmental improvements — both in alternative refrigerants and energy efficiency — have helped remove over 2 billion pounds of harmful emissions from the atmosphere since 1996. Alongside organizations like GreenChill, we will continue to provide the much needed education and training necessary to help our industry move toward more widespread use of natural refrigeration systems.”
In the mid-1990s, Hillphoenix introduced one of the first cooling technologies to reduce global-warming emissions. Today, about one quarter of the systems shipped by Hillphoenix use our Second Nature natural refrigerants.
The GreenChill Store Certification Excellence Award goes to the commercial systems manufacturer that has installed advanced refrigeration systems in the most GreenChill certified stores in the past year. “Hillphoenix continues its many-year history of active engagement with GreenChill,” said Tom Land EPA’s GreenChill manager. “Hillphoenix is earning an award for supporting supermarkets with its many innovative options for moving toward environmentally-friendly refrigeration systems.”
EPA’s GreenChill Partnership works with supermarkets to reduce refrigerant emissions and decrease their impact on the ozone layer and climate change. The Partnership helps supermarkets transition to environmentally friendlier refrigerants, reduce harmful refrigerant emissions, and adopt greener refrigeration technologies and environmental best practices. There are approximately 11,000 GreenChill Partner stores throughout the nation. For more information on EPA’s GreenChill Partnership, please visit www2.epa.gov/greenchill.
Congratulations to all the GreenChill Environmental Achievement Award recipients!
